What is MatchKonnection?
MatchKonnection is a not-for-profit organization created by parents for high functioning
young adults who have LD, ADHD,
Autism, Aspergers
.
How did
MatchKonnection come about?
Organizing MatchKonnection began with parents, relatives and friends of people with
learning and neurological disabilities who wanted to help better the social lives of their
children. It soon became apparent that we needed to include the very people we were
trying to guide, so as to provide social opportunities for them.
What does
MatchKonnection do?
Through lectures, concerts, performances and other cultural and social activities, all of
which incorporate group participation with education, we hope to give our members the
social and personal tools to be productive and happy members of the society at large.
What is a
MatchKonnection event like?
Our members are always involved. No one just sits and watches passively. This participation
enables our members to get to know one another and to interact in a warm and relaxed
atmosphere.
Who runs the
MatchKonnection events?
There is a professional facilitator at each meeting or event to help achieve our goals.
Learning, growing, maturing this is what we hope to accomplish. And, of course, meeting
people making friends and having fun are valuable side benefits of the process. Our facilitator
is also always present to encourage discussions on getting jobs, managing finances, dating
and any other concerns that the participants want to explore.
What kinds of
events are provided by
MatchKonnection?
Our activities vary greatly from artist to singer to etcc, but they all include the basics of
education and participation. The following are just a few of the activities we have offered:
* A jazz
singer and pianist taught us the history of jazz thru
song.

contribution.
